What is the difference between a 3-point and a 2-point seatbelt?

Kishen explains the differentiators between a 3 point and a 2 point seatbelt

Before ordering a replacement seatbelt, it’s important to know whether you have a 2-point or a 3-point belt, as they’re not interchangeable. The difference comes down to how many contact points the belt has with the seat, and how the webbing is routed.

A 2-point seatbelt has two fixing points — one either side of the lap — and the webbing comes out of the headrest from the side. A 3-point seatbelt has three fixing points (two at the lap and one at the shoulder), and you’ll see the attachment on the outside of the headrest, with the webbing running down and across to the side.

Knowing which type you have makes it quick and easy to order the correct replacement.

Watch the video below for a visual comparison, and if you’re unsure which belt type you have, get in touch with our service team and we’ll help you identify it before ordering.

Additionally, to recognise a 2 point seat belt, once the belt is on you have one and two, and then to recognise a three-point seat belt you have 1, 2 and three. To place an order for your seatbelts through Auto Transform, it’s crucial that you understand what type of seat belt you have. Is it a 2 pointer or a three pointer? To recognise a 2 pointer, kindly note that the seat belt comes out of the headrest from the side. To recognise a three pointer seat belt, kindly note that you will see the attachment on the outside of the headrest that comes all the way down and to the side here.
