A purpose-built fitout for the Kia PV5

A purpose-built fitout for the Kia PV5

We partnered with Kia to engineer a PV5 fitout from the ground up. The PV5 gave us a blank canvas. A new platform, a new opportunity to explore all the possibilities, and the chance to show our fitout capability. We built a solution around the vehicle, the battery, and the job it needs to do.

The result is a trades fitout that’s lightweight by design and purpose-built for the job. We also explored configurations ranging from a mobile technician fitout to specialist builds like a mobile coffee van. Here’s what we built, and why it works.

Trade fitout. Everything you need, no wasted space.

Our trade fitout for the Kia PV5 puts everything a tradie needs on board within easy reach, secured and organised for daily use, without adding unnecessary weight.

  • No-drill roof racks: Fitted straight to the PV5’s factory mounting points.
  • Glue-bonded floor: No screws. The battery sits directly underneath, so the floor is bonded rather than fixed through it.
  • Built-in storage: Drawers, shelving and conduit storage laid out for day-to-day trade work.
  • Conduit storage: Dedicated space for surveying gear and other long items. Optimises the space between the wheel arch and the false floor.
  • Removable parts bins: Lift out to give access to the OEM 240V power point. The full row of bins can be removed to turn the space into a dedicated charging shelf.
  • Underfloor drawers: Interchangeable partitions and removable bins with handles, so the layout can change as the job does.
  • False floor: Maximises usable storage space above and below.
  • Fully removable, no resale impact: Installed to OE mounts and bonded tracking, so the whole fitout can be removed cleanly if the vehicle needs to go back to standard configuration.

Lightweight, by design

Lightweight components, more fitout flexibility. On an electric platform like the Kia PV5, every kilogram of fitout is a kilogram of payload and range you don’t get back. So weight is a design consideration from the outset.

Auto Transform Syncro System. Lightweight, strong, and fully recyclable. Shelving is up to 30% lighter than traditional shelving,

Auto Transform SmartBoard. Made from recycled plastic, its unique construction makes it strong and durable. SmartBoard lining is up to 60% lighter than plywood.

PV5 690kg max payload. Means every kg saved on racking is a kg of tools, stock or equipment your customer can carry.

Other layout concepts

The trade fitout above is one configuration. The Kia PV5’s flat floor and modular chassis mean we can engineer a different layout for a different job, each one purpose-built for the work it has to do rather than one system stretched across every role:

  • Service Technician: Full racking with a double-sided underfloor drawer, so tools are reachable from whichever side is fastest or safest on site.
  • Mobile Mechanic: Parts bins, tool drawers and specialist storage laid out for genuine workshop capability on the road.
  • Delivery / Courier: Simple, load-efficient racking that maximises usable cargo space for route work.
  • Mobile Coffee Van: A purpose-built barista setup with equipment mounting, bench space and storage. Proof of how far the same engineering approach can stretch.

Every configuration is built on the same lightweight Syncro and SmartBoard foundation, so the payload and range benefits carry across whichever layout your fleet needs. You’re not limited to these configurations. Talk to our team about designing a layout built specifically for the work your fleet does.
