We’re pleased to collaborate with Christchurch City Council, EECA (the Low Emission Transport Fund), EROAD, TR Group and private sector businesses to help put nine new electric trucks on Christchurch’s roads.
Fulton Hogan’s vehicle – a FUSO E-Canter – was co-designed by our engineers and is all-electric, including its auxiliary services – concrete mixer, plate compactor, hiab and tipping function.
It will be used on Christchurch City Council maintenance projects. Its performance will be assessed by EROAD and the data used in carbon reduction calculations and in assessing further such sustainable investments.
The truck’s body was built by Auto Transform, who developed Fulton Hogan’s first New Zealand electric truck in New Zealand in 2020, used on the Dunedin City Council maintenance contract.
Fulton Hogan Canterbury’s Civil Construction Divisional Manager, Carrick Bensemann says there will be plenty to learn from the opportunities and limitations of the truck.
“We’re trying out quite a lot of technology, and I know many others are as interested as we are in the results,” Carrick says
